Gluten Free Pastry? Absolutely nailed
That’s what the judges said when they tried our two new gluten free pies at the Great Taste Awards. In fact, the judges unanimously agreed that they couldn’t even tell that our pastry was gluten free. High praise indeed!
The great news is that these two pies are available now in selected Waitrose branches so you can see what all the fuss is about and judge them for yourself. They’re on offer there at 25% off the normal retail price until the 11th October.
They’re GF versions of two of our most popular Classics (the Heidi and the Moo) and based on their performance at the 2016 British Pie Awards (http://www.pieminister.co.uk/us/our-awards/) it’s fair to say they’re the best gluten free pies in Britain.
We make our Gluten Free Heidi with Capricorn goats’ cheese from the Lubborn Creamery in Somerset, the sharpness of which tastes just amazing with the nuttiness of the sweet potato.
For the Gluten Free Moo, we slow cook the beef in a gluten free stout (Savernake from the Kennet & Avon Brewery in Wiltshire). A full-bodied, black beer with aromas of liquorice, roasted coffee and chocolate, it gives the gravy in the pie a lovely rich stickiness.
