Vegan Masala win at the British Pie Awards

We’ve done it again; bagged another big shiny trophy at the British Pie Awards!

Tristan set off to Melton Mowbray (the Capital of Pies apparently) for the awards lunch and ceremony last Friday, where our all-new Vegan Masala was crowned Best Vegan Pie in all the land!

Over 900 pies were entered and our winning combo of giant chickpeas, spinach, sweet potato and cauliflower cooked in a delicate masala spice blend clearly wowed the judges. And we’re not surprised – it’s a damn fine pie.

And because the judges blind taste the pies, they’re assessing them purely on their deliciousness. So, they wouldn’t have known when trying ours that not only are they insanely tasty, they’re also seriously sustainable.

As Tristan said, “It’s such an honour to win Best Vegan Pie. The vegan food scene has come a long way recently, and it’s good to see what was a niche pie category has become mainstream. Plant based pies like this new one of ours aren’t just for vegans, they’re for anyone who likes good wholesome food – it’s just a really good pie, vegan or otherwise!”

Wanna try it for yourself? It’s on our online shop for now, and in a matter of weeks it’ll be gracing a fresh new summer menu in our restaurants nationwide.

Oh, and the other pies we entered into the Awards picked up a few medals too, including the Big Cheese, a super indulgent cheesy pie packed with vintage Cheddar, leek, potato, Emmental and cider. Created for last week’s Pie Week, it’s proved so popular it’s staying put. As is the gluten free version – we want everyone to be able to eat our award-winning pies after all!
